The V7 returns sexier than ever

For those of you lamenting the demise of the Guzzi V7, there’s good news because it’s making a comeback for 2021.

The even better news is that it’s no less sexy than before, and it gets a power boost in the form of the 850cc 65hp engine powering the V85 models. Or at least a close facsimile of that. So not only will it be quicker but Moto Guzzi also assures us that it will be more comfortable and refined, better equipped and also just as characterful as before.

The V7 has been around for five decades and is being revamped for next year, though without a mark number. Guess they’d done enough of those revisions characterised by a Roman numeral (the last one was III).

Two versions will be available, the V7 Stone with its minimalistic style, and the V7 Special, with “classic and elegant lines”. Both look gorgeous, as per.

The new engine should mean better performance and greater fuel efficiency for “more riding pleasure, fun and reliability.”

The bigger mill offers a 25 per cent power increase while peak torque also rises significantly, from 60kW at 4250rpm to 73Nm at 5000 rpm. So power is similar to that of V85TT but torque is slightly down. Evidently over 80 per cent of maximum torque is to hand from 3000rpm. A low output A2 compliant version will be available for European consumption.

Also new is a revised exhaust system, there’s a larger cardan shaft final drive unit, a wider rear wheel, and beefed up Kayaba rear shocks.

Side panels and rear fender have also been revised.

The frame sees revisions to the headstock area, while the new shocks and two-tier saddle apparently make for a more comfortable ride.

The V7 Stone picks up a full LED lighting system, the headlight incorporating the company eagle logo as its DRL. There’s also a new circular minimalist instrument cluster, entirely digital, and fresh aluminium rims, the rear shod with a wider 150/70 tyre. Colour options number three, black, blue and orange.

Meantime, the V7 Special retains its analogue instrument cluster with dual dials and spoked wheel rims, and comes in blue and grey hues.

Expect them here Q2 next year.
