Honda might take sexy CB4X to production
The CB4X concept from Honda Design Europe shown at EICMA last year appears to be production bound, if European patent filings are any indication.
Its mainly unchanged outline suggests it will be true to the ethos of the prototype, ie, all-roads bound.
The bike in the patent drawings has a slightly more modern face, with slimline tapered nose and compact LED headlights.
The concept, based on the CBR650 platform, blended elements of both Sport and Touring (single-sided swingarm, 17-inch wheels, long-travel suspension, wide and relaxed handlebars, decent weather protection).
So the CB4X is as much a crossover type of motorcycle as its name suggests, in the vein of Tracer 700 and Versys 650, at home in or way out of town.
Unlike its rivals, the CB4X has a 650cc inline-four so should lean more to the sporty side of the ledger.
Honda never said whether this was merely a styling exercise or not, but the patent drawings suggest not.
