Porsche debuts most powerful Cayenne yet
Porsche has revealed the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, in both regular and Coupe forms.
Both models feature an even 500kW from the pairing of a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 and an electric motor sitting between the engine and the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission. The combination offers 900Nm of torque from “just above idle,” says Stuttgart, allowing acceleration to 100km/h from standstill in 3.8 seconds.
That performance doesn’t cost the planet too much either, with 40km of zero-emissions driving available thanks to a 14.1kWh battery and an NEDC-rated average consumption of 3.9-3.7L/100km. The electric motor can drive the top-tier Cayenne to a maximum speed of 135km/h.
The new Cayenne twins come with a bunch of standard gizmos too. Features include the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electric roll stabilisation, a Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus rear differential, ceramic brakes, 21-inch alloys and the Sport Chrono package. There’s also the adaptive air suspension for extra comfort or sporty behaviour, depending on your mood and the conditions.
Alongside the Turbo S E-Hybrid and S E-Hybrid Coupe V8 models are hybrid V6 versions. Those blend Porsche’s 3.0-litre turbo V6 with an electric motor for 340kW and 700Nm. It can sprint to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds (5.0 with the lightweight sports packages), has a pure-electric range of 43km and an NEDC consumption rating of 3.2-3.1L/100km.
Local pricing starts at $171,900 for the V6-powered Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe, $294,900 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid and $304,900 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe. All models are available to order now with deliveries expected before the year is out.
