Mini New Zealand has confirmed that a limited number of new Nightfall Edition models are set for our shores.

The firm has secured 13 of the models in total; 10 three-door John Cooper Works hatches and three John Cooper Works convertibles. The former is to be priced at $70,990 and the latter at $75,990 (both not including on-road costs).

It represents a bit of a jump over the standard Cooper S’s $45,000 retail price, as well as the $55,400 retail for the Cooper S JCW. But, for the money you do get a few extra features.

Being based on JCW variants, each comes equipped with a hotted up 2.0-litre turbofour producing 170kW of power and 320Nm of torque. There’s no manual option either, with each available only with an eight-speed automatic.

Among the JCW goodies attached to each model is a carbon-fibre bonnet scoop, brake package upgrade, bespoke 17-inch wheels, and branded exhaust surrounds. Don't get used to those cute fog-lights attached to the grille, New Zealand models sadly don't get them.

Enveloping all of this is the Nightfall Edition’s more sinister styling, underlined by the Enigmatic Black Metallic paint, chrome delete (replaced with gloss black, of course), and black badging.

There’s a few neat changes inside, too, with the inclusion of a JCW steering wheel and handbrake, plus more black surface finishes. Other interior features of note include 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio, wireless phone charging, and Apple CarPlay.
