A1 citycarver a high rise variant
Audi has added another compact model to its small car line-up, this the fourth variant of the Audi A1 range. Dubbed A1 citycarver, it features a 40mm ride height extension offering a better view for the driver, and easier access.
It’s front-drive only, but evidently can cope just as easily with city and open road driving, and even venture onto ‘slightly rough terrain’. We’d imagine that’s most likely be in the form of kerb hopping. Local pricing is set at $45,900 plus ORCs.
Dimensions are similar to those of the A1 Sportback upon which it is based. Powering A1 citycarver 30 TFSI is a three-cylinder 1.0 TFSI engine, good for 85kW and 200Nm of torque, the power processed by a seven-speed twin-clutch transmission. Overall fuel use is around 5.3L/100km, and it evidently hits 100km/h from standstill in under 10sec.
Standard external features include 17-inch alloy wheels, a large octagonal grille with black honeycomb insert and two slots above the grille, a styling nod to the Sport quattro of the 80s. Eight colours are available, while roof and mirror caps can be had in contrasting black or grey hues. There’s also an optional black styling package, and a $2300 dynamics upgrade that includes sports suspension and adaptive dampers.
Inside Audi’s fully digital Virtual cockpit display can be had, while MMI navigation is also a cost option. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard fare, as are two USB ports. There’s an 8.8-inch touch display for the infotainment, which is also under voice control. Luggage space ranges from 335-1090L.
